The co-founder and first guitarist of The Stooges, Ron Asheton, was found dead in his Ann Arbor, MI home this morning. He died some days ago of an apparent heart attack. The Stooges are THE seminal American proto punk band, driven by Asheton's searing guitar and Iggy Pop's fearless performances, the band was legendary for their edgy live act that always felt dangerously close mayhem.
